Peeling banana: I thought it was proper to peel from the stem, even though I do find peeling from the other end easier. I'm always awkward about peeling when doing it in front of other people. I once tried that, and one of them told me, "Peel from the other end, Alan."

This is quite funny. When my younger brother was about 4-5 years old. He would always open his banana that way. He would use his teeth. I tried it myself and have never looked back. Just thaught a guy the very same thing two days ago.
Here is the process my friend taught me:
1) Hold it by the stem horisontally.
2) The bend points down so it forms a valley as opposed to a hill.
3) Crack the banana like a whip.
This snaps the stem off and half the peel on one side. At first I worried that the whole banana would fall on the floor but it doesn't (because of science). This method is fast and clean.
I have aways opened it from the stem but my dad said that is not the way monkeys do it he said the stem is like a handel so what is the right way to open a banana
Apparently, you have to pull from the other end that's not the stem. You somehow have to grab the top like a soda can and pull it.
