Ex-heads of EPA blast Bush on global warming
Environmental Protection Agency:
"Six former heads of the Environmental Protection Agency — five Republicans and one Democrat — accused the Bush administration Wednesday of neglecting global warming and other environmental problems."One of the broken promises of 1999 was a commitment to the environment and to the Kyoto Treaty. I did not want to think at that time that he had lied. I wanted to think that he was being a typical politician that makes promises with no intentions of keeping them.
The moral problem is precisely that of Bush being distinctly anti-science. After all, science cannot offer absolute certainty and instead relies on the notion of probability. Even so, science can offer a very clear outcome based on observed results. Unfortunately, much like the tactics of Intelligent Design to make every efforts to exaggerate or invent holes in evolution, the Bush administration has made every effort to sidestep from the observed facts of global warming to do less and less, even as the window of opportunity to reduce our impact on the environment narrows.
