videophone

I just used my videophone (Sorenson VRS) to get opted-out of the mailing list that kept sending me "Congratulations! You're preapproved for a Visa card!"

Mr. Stephen Colbert may be proud of credit cards. He may believe that using credit card is the best way to get out of debt. Not me, though. So I asked to be opted out, and they will take me off the mailing list for five years. It's amazing that just a few years ago I couldn't get a credit card because I had no rating to start with. Being a liability, I was rejected from applying. I got a pre-approved card from Discover (for which I thank Discover by using that card as much as possible). After establishing a rating, Capital One and Chase suddenly started sending me mails every other day demanding that I sign up for another credit card.

I dislike junk mails because of the waste of paper, if you're wondering.

If anyone want to talk to me, and encourage me to use my videophone more, I'd love for you to contact me. I especially should try to use it to talk to another Deafie.

What was good was that I didn't feel as awkward using the Sorenson VRS as before. I used to feel uncomfortable, and that led me to signing awkwardly. But this time, I could simply relax and get through the process of listening to the computer message and telling the interpreter to "press 1" for opting out.

I understand that some Deafies may be using or CSD instead of Sorenson because of 24/7 service. Sorenson didn't, but now does. I think both are the same, but because they're competing with each other, the videophones cannot inter-communicate except with other videophones of the same company.
