A B- speech. It's a different, better tone. The guy on ABC even said that 48 of the paragraphs could have been Clinton's own. I thought it attempted to sound bipartisan by reaching out to Democrats. There are some things, like creating a bipartisan commission to investigate and make proposals on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid were better steps than budget-breaking changes, but potential traps as well. The suggestion of providing alternative energy, and saying that we're addicted to imported oil, is going to change some Americans' mind. I think that, ignoring some statements that I obviously disagree with (I'll find a transcript and highlight what I very much dislike), it's not that bad. The only question is whether he will actually change direction rather than keep saying that he will do it. Here's to 2006. Cheers!

I'm glad he's pushing for alternative energy, and agree that America is addicted to oil. However, this was the perfect time for him to ask Americans to be more diligent in conservation, and he didn't take it. That couldn't made a difference. What do we do during the transition?
