Lunar New Year 2006
Happy New Lunar Year 2006! It's a Chinese New Year.
Anyone born after this is born in the year of the dog. That means people who are born in January are still in 2005, and so are not considered to be born under the dog sign. It's interesting how the calendar differs.
There was a tradition we had on Chinese New Year Eve yesterday, which was that we cook so much it was inevitable to have leftovers. The leftovers are important, symbolizing that we have so much wealth and plenty that we don't have to cook on New Year's day. Indeed, tradition dictates that we don't cook on the first day of the New Year.
The only thing we're allowed is to microwave, steam, or heat up the food. We are allowed to cook for lunch, but for dinner we will have leftovers.
