No more Technorati

Kottke explains why he's abandoning Technorati.

In an update, he put in the link to IceRocket as the best alternative. After trying it out on my blog, it seems to respond faster, and I can see who linked to me, including The Bay Area is Talking.

You might say we can use Trackback instead, but I dislike it because it requires more effort than I'm willing to give, and than I want others to give. My problem is that I have to copy the link to TB, and because I use Haloscan, I have to go through some efforts to make a TB. It takes more time than simply commenting and saying, "check out my comment on my blog." Sure, commenting to get people to check out your site may be cheesier and less hi-tech (if there was such a thing) than to use the fancy TB. Also, some people have argued that Trackback is dead because of the horrors of spams that push you to click on links to incest and bestiality.

To each his own.

I once had TB on, but I decided to take it off, personally because it's not being used, and I didn't think that people had any idea how TB works or that they wanted to use it.
