There are some people who dissent, saying that this was wrong kind of discipline. The various complaints include the fact that this was public humiliation that wasn't acceptable (never mind the fact that the mother didn't know it was going to be so popular), calling this kind of parenting "blatant hypocrisy" (WTF! She's the parent, he's the little kid still under her supervision! What kind of hypocrisy is there when the mother is trying to keep her son from winding up as a middle-aged street bum?), and finally that it was wrong of her to even use the Internet because discipline should be handled privately (again, she didn't know it was going to be so popular, and it would have been private because she was already friendly with the group of people over the RPG game at WoW).
Some people have thought that it was all a hoax. I doubt it, but you can render your judgment.
