Bush smart!?
I mean, along with the word "thumpin'", Bush also let the word "nevertheless" and "cumulative" roll off his tongue.
I've suspected for some time that Democratic victory could actually uppen in Bush's legacy. Right now, the past six years has been degrading any hope of being well-regarded by historians of this generation. What gains from his behaviors after 9/11 and after toppling the Talibans on Afghanistan were eroded by his behaviors after Iraq and Katrina.
With Democratic victory, I can see how Bush might succeed with his liberal policies, such as amnesty for immigrants, etc. that could sprout a certain goodwill amongst the largest minority of this country.
I don't know if you remember James Fallows' coverage of Bush and Kerry, which was fascinating. But if we see a return to the amiable Governor Bush of Texas, it may be a little more normality, something we can bear.
