Ahh
Hurricane Corinna, NOT Katrina.
Lately, why the rash airplane crashes?
Superdome horror as reported, researched, and learned by BBC. These thinggs happening in front of everyone. Without a structure, without a government, all fall into anarchy. And we still have the government saying that things are going well, and that New Orleans, because of its position below sea level, is to be blamed for even existing.
As we all know, the preamble of the Constitution stated that the federal government's sole purposes were to ensure general welfare, domestic tranquility, and common defence. In all these, it has failed superbly.
Now we have Laura Bush calling criticisms of her husband as filthy. And we have Barbara Bush expressing contempts and fear of the displaced thousands staying longer than she wants at her beloved city of Houston. A woman of more tact would certainly not whine or think that new Orleaners are getting a good deal for being able to take advantage of Texan hospitality. Of course thousands are displaced from a city they have only known for their entire life! A city that might never return, or return in a different form. Thousands more are presumably killed. Some dozens are murdered, whether by incompetence, by malice, or by simple stress.
Some universities in the Bay Area have extended some helping hands to Tulane students and others. What else could we do? This is the very fact and circumstance of life. A city devastated would affect the entire nation. And well it should. We should not evince even a single ounce of hostility because we want to prove that even we would wanted to be treated as well as we have treated them.
