What possesses people to steal a soda cup and a cap from a pizza restaurant?

What indeed? I am so hostile to people who do such a lame-ass thing.

Just because he came in, tried to get something without paying for it, and the woman there said, "No." He went outside, and then went inside again and stole a soda cup and a cap.

If he had even used it to steal some soda, I would be even angrier. But . . . what a waste of factory production, that out of millions of cups and caps produced, one should be stolen for no other practical reason other than to irritate the woman.
