Oh, those British elections, where the parliament elect the Prime Minister. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart had a skit on "A Spot of Indecision 2005". <== (Putting double quotation mark before the period is the British way, putting it after is the American way. Go USA! But for now, Britain has the right of way.)

Jon Stewart:

This election took place in May. From what I understand, the Prime Minister can basically call election any time he wants.

Steven Colbert:

That's right, Jon, completely irrational. Unlike in America, where the election takes place on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of every quadrennial November. (pause) As God intended.

My friend, it is as God intended.

Although I'm not sure if it's the first Tuesday or second Tuesday, because isn't the first Tuesday the day after the first Monday of November? Anyway, what's said is said. It's the purists who quibble.
