China has strong and subtle filters
Wired finds that China blocks contents and doesn't let the users know. The users will never know what they don't know.
Usually, a country blocking content would put up a notice saying that it has been banned.
In this case, there is no notice. The link is simply removed.
I am unbelievably outraged, and intrigued. I wonder if the U.S. government will take this kind of censorship and use it. It may be useful to block hate sites, but it could also be abused to indoctrinate people with propaganda.
I doubt that will happen, because as long as endless conspiracies exist, Americans will always be free.
