those darn wheelchair people!
They want to build a ramp everywhere, but they don't care if it causes a cart to hit somebody.
What happened was a story that my mom has relayed to me. When Dad and she parked the car in front of a FoodMaxx, a supermarket, she got out of the car, but a shopping cart hit her.
Apparently, an old man simply left the cart there, but did nothing to stop the cart when it began sliding and hit my mom's ankle. It was just a sprain, but this tell me that the crippled people's agenda must be stopped.
Differently abled or not, they should not have such sway in California as to make sure that the curb is slanted to allow them to ride into the supermarket, because it creates a hazard of having the shopping carts hit people!
Of course, there's also whether the old man intentionally didn't care if the cart was moving, and allowed it to hit my mom. The old man didn't speak a word of English, and wore Texan-style hat and boots.
If I know Texas, and I know George W. Bush, I suspect that they're the kind of people who believe that people should be forced to take care of themselves, regardless of whether they're able to. This form of extreme independence isn't good in a world where we must realize that everyone is interdependent, and government should be thought of as a helping agency.
I would pity Ronald Reagan if he was poor, not rich, and unable to afford hospital care for Alzheimer's. But the privelege of being wealthy has cast his idiocy in such a light as to hide a singular failure of the American Dream: Not everyone can achieve it. Not everyone can get a house and a car. Not everyone who deserves a house and a car by working hard gets them. Not everyone deserves a house and a car, and still they get them.
