That speech in Berln: The High and Mighty Senator Obama has been getting too much into airy exhortations of late.
I think my problem is that it's not inspirational to me. It does seem to be a dogwhistle to both the evangelical Christians and to the people of Europe.
I guess I am much too faithful to the idea of a speech being as deeply Anglo-Saxon as possible, with Romantic words peppered in for spices.
Why say "globalized world"? It is too close to the political lexicon. It would have been better to use a new phrase than anything that ends with "ized."
