California would switch to Obama

Oh thankums California. This season has taught me that a strategist can be as effective as a tactician, and a compressed calendar, with so many states clamoring to be on Super Tuesday to have the most influence, disfavors the strategist, and this happens right at the moment that we finally have a strategist in the midst, since both George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were the consummate tacticians. Tactics are not strategy, as we can see from Bush's destruction of the Republican Party and Clinton's destruction of the Democratic Party.

I'm not sure if Hillary is a good tactician. She's untested as a politician, it's hard to tell. The fact that Obama is black, a product of interracial marriage and sounds like a Muslim, along with Clinton's gender and her name brand scrambles our perception as well, as low-information voters who don't participate very much in politics might be choosing her primarily because they remember the 90's as peaceful and prosperous time, and the bra-burning women of the 60's see Hillary as the icon of the feminist-as-victim movement.

I would say that McCain is a tactician, but not a particularly effective one.
