Supreme Court and Abortion

It's absolutely wonderful! For those who thought the issues were settled, I laugh and laugh and laugh. Nothing is ever so constant in a federal system. And partial-abortion has been re-instated, setting precedents to chip away the rights. Precedents do not necessarily have to be followed. Many analysts propose that if the states were allowed to make their own laws regarding abortion, just as they have now made their own laws regarding same-sex marriage, without the impositions of an activist judges, abortion would not be approached with such a fissive attitude, and its consequent nuking of any sane discussion. I think that much is true.

Even in the European Union, there is no such system where the EU would impose the values of Denmark and Sweden on Budapest and Lithuania. Instead, each country takes its step to change its laws, as Spain has recently done.

Now, we have the fiery court on the side of the opposition. I can only hope it will eventually delegate the determination of such rights to the states, as the Constitution so enumerates. Perhaps it doesn't have to be so. Perhaps, the court is only letting the federal government decide its policy. If the people disagree, they can vote the people out.

As far as I can see, it can only concentrate more plutonium in the election potpourri. Oh, needless shows. This but makes more difficult to predict the future alignment of Congress and the White House.
