Nappy
Interesting. Nappy is a word that has a hurtful history for many people of African descent. And yet, a few years ago, nappy was a word used to describe Shawn Fanning's hair, which led to him calling his P2P program Napster.
It reminds me of that crazy woman now on The View. Yet, the furor over this is greater. Is it because 13% of United States citizens are African Americans? Whereas Asian Americans are fewer in numbers? Is it because Don Imus also said "hos"?
And also, deaf people are even fewer in numbers, because deafness is a low-incident disability. Therefore, no one suspects that being called deaf-mutes, deaf and dumb, and hearing-impaired might be insulting.
Edit: Drat, someone got to it with a spoof before I did. Looks like I'm not the only one who noticed.
