Stem Cell Research and its Veto

Now I finally understand. At first, I didn't understand the concept of veto and overriding veto. I knew that the Congress could override the veto, but I didn't realize its necessity because I thought it was easy to override the veto. Now, I know better. All it takes to pass a bill is a simple majority (>50% vote). If that bill was vetoed, Congress can override that veto with a super majority (>66% vote).

Since it was not a super majority that voted for the bill, it's not likely for Congress to override it, unless the election were to take place to bring a Democratic majority and more moderate Republicans to Congress, then they can override the veto. Unfortunately, the election is four months away, then there's a month of sitting-duck Congress.

I doubt the Democrats will win.
