crucible, the art of fire

I just went to the Oakland's Fire Arts Festival, and I'm happy I did. What reservations I had about spending an evening with pyrotechnic and pyromaniacs evaporated when I had responsibility, punching tickets, and watching people have fun. I don't know, I just enjoy looking at people, and being at the entrance and seeing people buy tickets to enjoy an event were a lot of fun.

It makes me wonder if I could simply have a career selling tickets in a carnival/amusement park venue. Just simple pleasure is enough for me, methinks. I'm developing a personality in which I have little ambition, and more interest in being content.

Anyway, after three hours of standing up, punching tickets, and counting the number of people entering up to 3,000, the line dwindled to zero. A short while later, my manager told me that I was done and thanked me for my time. At 11:30pm, I was ecstatic at having an extra hour to see the displays and watch the concerts. I went back to my car to get my camera--I will upload the pictures and videos and post them here soon.

I saw people who loved to play with fire. They had a baton with fire at both end, and twirled it around their bodies. The night was cold enough for them to enjoy it. I also saw some wearing metal suit and playing with a giant Van de Graaff generator, seeing giant bolt of electricity running through the air into their hands, playing with metal rod, and so forth.

I thought the concert would last until 12:30, which was technically the closing time, but the band kept playing on even after 1am in the morning, at which point I decided to go home.
