The pro-test protesters
The pro-test protesters make their case saying "Yes!" to Animal Testing.
The animal-rights advocates, while they do have a right to demonstrate noisily against animal testing, have been a voice without an opposition. A silent science community could scarcely be more audible even as they are demonized into the stereotypical sadistic mad researchers that electrocute, starve, or otherwise maltreat their guinea pigs.
Scientists have tried to appease the animal rights advocates. One of the ways they did that was to change the standard of testing for a virulence of a bacterium. LD50 referred to the lethal dosage necessary to kill 50% of the test cases. It was changed to infection dosage necessary to cause a symptom of a disease instead. While making these concessions, they have stopped short of banning animal testing altogether. The pro-testing protesters make their argument.
