In this case, it is not law, but politics that is pressuring Google. This time, China wants Google to do one thing that China has always wanted to do, ensure that the users don't know what they don't know.
That would be something I could object to. I don't object to censorship as long as there is a disclaimer explaining that there is censorship. Unfortunately, China wants no disclaimer at all.
Basically, the Tiananmen Square Massacre does not exist. That's even worse than denying the Holocaust, because when you deny it, you're still bringing it up to great effect (as Iran's leader has shown) and reminding people of their history, but when you suppress any mention of it, then it is forgotten.
