can sorenson see i2eye?

DVC-1000 is a videophone for the mass market. That means that hearing people can buy this phone and talk to each other, realizing that science fiction dream.

Sorenson licensed i2eye to D-Link to let them market it. Initially, Sorenson didn't want its product, VP-100, a videophone for the deaf, to connect with i2eye, but now the company has changed its policy.

Unfortunately, I have no bloody idea what to do to make my VP-100 talk to DVC-1000. If a hearing person bought i2eye, I most likely will need to know his or her IP address to converse. But I want to know if it's possible to call their number instead, just as with my VP-100 to call other Deaf people. It's possible that Sorenson doesn't allow that.

Then, how do I get a person using i2eye to talk to me? They probably need my IP address, unless they can somehow call my phone number.

On a different but related topic, I don't know if I can get my AlertMaster AM-6000 to work with VP-100, so that if someone calls, the light will flash. DCARA Deaf Store recommended that I buy SonicAlert, which should plug into VP-100 and is a remote-signal transmission device. I can buy another receiver that will be a slave listening to the master device and put it in my room (since my VP-100 is in another room).

If you both of Dlink videophones, then using a phone number should work. If you have Sorenson, and your friend has Dlink, then you need the public IP addresses.

Several possible problems:
1.IP address can change, you might want to use DynDNS to help you.

2. The firewall in the router can block the videophone. You will need to forward the port or put an IP address on the DMZ.

3. I don't mean to insult your coworker's intelligence, but it is possible the IP address is actually private and not the public IP address.
