Patriot Act

reauthorization has failed.

It's not a victory by any means, but that troubling 3% is gone. Hooray. It has not met its burden of proof. Did it ever work? For four years, we haven't heard of its effectiveness. You would think that the government would have stopped at least one terrorist act and applaud itself. It still makes me wonder why terrorist attacks haven't happened on our soil. It's not just whether other countries are "soft targets," like Madrid and London, but I would have thought there would be at least another attempt that the government could have foiled to prove the Patriot Act's success.

But my happiness lies more in the Constitution when it actually works. The bicameral legislature ensures that neither houses of Congress can pass a law without both of them.
