New Orleans evacuation suspended

It's amazing, but why would anyone shoot at the military helicopter that is trying to help?

Why would anyone sport a gun on another American who has extended an arm of goodwill?

I know that they're all poor (a fair number is black, apparently). They couldn't afford a car to get out. They're homeless. Now they are opposing the federal government's interference in their affairs.

¡CÓMO ESTÚPIDOS! ¡Vaya Dios, no lo entiendo! Pero creo que es en la humanidad nuestra lado siniestro.

UPDATE: In GE, there's a member who's posting about his family who has escaped New Orleans. It's very sad, but he mentioned that he was ready not to see New Orleans, his hometown, again. Also, his family who has escaped New Orleans is now in the dome arena in Texas.

GE also points to an evangelical Christian group blaming the gays for Hurricane Katrina destroying New Orleans. Unfortunately, it so happens that New Orleans was going to host a gay festival during Labor Day weekend. And Raynes wonder if New Orleans is going to become the biblical epic like Sodom and Gomorrah. It may indeed be how Bible stories happen: First a disaster happens, then blame the wickedness of the destroyed cities.

I would take the Sodom and Gomorrah analogy with a grain of salt.
