china trip

My parents' and my trip to China begins tomorrow night (Sunday). By the time we get there, it will be Tuesday, courtesy of the Internation Date Line, an imaginary line set up by the British Admiralty. The sun never sets, does it?

Unfortunately, I can't read Chinese. From what I know, our itinerary will be to fly to South Korea in Seoul Airport to transfer to another plane. We might see Samsung! AFter we transfer to a different plane, we will fly to Beijing, the capital of China.

There we will join a tour group, and ride around in a cute little bus with one restroom.

We will travel to see--in no particular order--the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, Ming Dynasty Tombs, West Lake (you might have ordered West Lake Minced Beef Soup from a Chinese Restaurant), Shanghai, and Tianjin (Temple of Confucius).

After all the hectic trip, we will spend three or two days in Hong Kong, where we will visit my mom's family . . . and second family. (My grandfather was a bigamist: He had two wives.)

I found out that my cellphone, Motorola-brand with Cingular service, has international roaming. This is different from my previous cellphone, which couldn't get anything when we went outside of the United States.

Not only that, we've signed up for the Basic Media Plan, which adding $10 a month will allow me to send 200 text/IM/emails, and 40 multimedia messages, as well as some kilobytes of Internet access, meaning that I can upload pictures taken from my cam phone into Flickr, and publish it into my blog.

It's unimpressive to the more geeky and nerdy cornucopia of technologies that other people have, but I try my best to catch up.

I'm excited.
