yesterday
was Organic Chemistry exam day.
I've been getting so overwhelmed, with remembering the mechanism for ozonolysis for breaking a double bond, and understand retrosynthesis, for figuring out how to synthesize a chemical from a simpler starting material.
I have a professor who worked in synthetic chemistry, and I'm sure he even dreams in it. How can I create a bond? How do I protect a carbonyl? How do I ensure a good yield?
What's the best way to create an anti-malarial drug? And I, one of his students, am dragged to and fro, delighted to have learned so much, and yet much dreading the day of the exam that would cover everything.
So I studied for a week to pack all of my knowledge and show my stuff in the space of two hours an exam of two-third of a second semester, over half a year.
The year winds down. I am nearing collapse in my mental facility. And yet, I know that in five years, when so many days have passed, when somone talks to me about organic chemistry, I will be so surprised by how much I remember, and how much I understand. I shall embrace it all at last, at last.
