Next Ten Years
Are you a Californian?
Would you like to try to balance California's budget?
What I selected was to increase spending in K-12 Education, which I consider extremely important, keep the spending in Higher Education on a per-student basis, increasing as inflation increases.
I increased the state income tax on the rich by some percentage, even though that would probably cause many businesses to leave and go somewhere (to Las Vegas, perhaps). I also would tax some services, which aren't taxed. So the burgeoning service economic amenities, like car repairs, would not be un-taxed.
I also decreased spending in state prison, and would re-evaluate the Three Strikes Law.
This is the kind of California I want, one that educate its students, and has no needs to put hundreds of thousands of criminals in prison for 20 years on a shoplifting offense.
