William Jefferson Clinton destroyed the Democratic Party during the 1990s. It resulted in the Republicans' takeover in 1994.

George Walker Bush destroyed the Republican Party during the 2000s that Ronald Wilson Reagan helped create. He divided the party as much as he divided the nation, evangelicals against the neo-cons against the fiscal conservatives.

All the statistics and patterns studied by the pollsters, the historians, the Karl Roves since the mid-twentieth century have been demolished. A generation is trying, finally, to take the mantle from the baby boomers, just as John Fitzgerald Kennedy took the mantle from Harry S Truman.

Can Barack Hussein Obama pick up the pieces and forge a new unity? I think he can, quickly, before he too gets corrupted.

I would be fine with giving the baby boomers one last hold on power. They have dominated everything because there are so many of them, from the time they turned 18 to now. I would be fine if Hillary Rodham Clinton was the vice president, but I think she is much too tangled up with her husband for any of us to trust her.
