Animal Farm by George Orwell

I've finished reading Animal Farm. I enjoyed the book, but it did not seem to have much depth as compared to George Orwell's more famous book, Nineteen Eighty-Four. The plot went in a steady and predictable progression to a worse and worse fate. It might have been more disheartening or hilariously satirical to people who first read it when it was first published, but to a generation of the 21st century, this reads like an unadjudicated fear, terrifying people with Malthusian portents that require us to be mindful to avoid being ignorant. Ignorance is a word whose depth we cannot fathom, but it should ring tinnily in our ears.

Rating: Four stars

The next book I will read is Fahrenheit 451.
