a few selections

At a time when I couldn't hear music, I read poetry. The first one I read and memorized was in when I was 14, in 9th grade. After transferring to an honors class due to a teacher's recommendation, I was exposed to Shakespeare. The first poetry I read by him, and I knew from an early beginning that he was considered prominently in English literature, was "My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun." I still know all the words in the poem.

In Los Angeles, there was a place called Huntington Conservatory, which has museums, conservatories, and art galleries devoted to American and British arts. But in the gift shop, I got the grandest gift for my birthday, a William Shakespeare beanie doll! Complete with ruff, tights, and all. Such a crazy loon.

In Las Vegas, I took this picture, which I think is extraordinarily pretty in black and white. I should try to do this again, next time, lengthening the shutter speed and closing the aperture further.
