Could You Pass 8th Grade Math?
Blogthings: 8th Grade Math. It's relevant because California has an exit exam that students must pass by getting a score of at least 51% to get a high school diploma.
Sadly, I got 9 out of 10 correct. The thing that tripped me was more the language regarding number 7. Still, if 23% of the high school students can't pass even an eighth grade math exam as a twelfth grade senior, we have a lot of teaching to do.
The most worrisome thing is how many of students are thrown off by the wording of the test question as much as I was.
