can sorenson see i2eye? (part 2)
Deaf Forum: Relatively incoherent, as many a thread can be. It's introduced me to No-IP and DynDNS, two competing websites offering a domain name for your IP address.
Since my public IP address is dynamic, anything could change it, a modem restart, a disconnection, an error. So if I gave a friend with i2eye my IP address, and my address changes, he could not call me.
No-IP and DynDNS promise to address that by providing a name that your respective videophone can call instead. Both services give you an update client that you can run at every computer startup to update your IP address, so that your friend can always call you.
I registered as "rexdormiens" (the sleeping king), but I don't think I'll give that to my friends. I'll need a way to see if this works.
I found out my first post on sorenson and i2eye is number 3 on Google, indicating the paucity of relevant information on i2eye and sorenson intercommunication.
Who doesn't think "Can Sorenson see i2eye?" is a pun?
