Bush Rebutted on Spying

It's interesting the "furor" over spying. It's supposed to catch people who ought to be caught. Cheney said, "If you're talking to Aunt Sadie, we're probably not interested." Krauthammer defended the spying as part of how Bush has kept us safe for five years since 9/11, because at that time, people thought another terrorist attack would happen within days or weeks.

The insistence on obedience to the rules of law is very touching. Yes, it's dangerous to insist on rules of law over safety of Americans. Yes, it would be unethical to be prevented from wiretapping someone that could be involved in a terrorist act within hours (even though warrants can be granted three days after the wiretapping).

The question for a country so concerned with litigations and law is "Is this legal?"
