Fossils in Sexual Union Perpetual
These are fungal cells, mind you. This was 65 millions years ago, so it might mean that in the very minutes of the meteor that collided with the Earth, these two star-crossed cells were copulating. But Madhya Pradesh (where the fossils were found) is half-way around the world from the Yacután Peninsula, where the meteor hit. So, if you don't believe that the meteorite impact 65 million years ago was enough to cover the earth and block the sun for a long enough period of time to kill 90% of life, these two events may be unrelated.
