What Obama did for Lieberman, allowing him to continue to preside over Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, may well be like what Harry Potter did for Wormtail, saving his political life. Only, Obama does it for a reason, that it will pay off in the long run to keep him from caucusing with the Republicans, Potter in contrast was a reluctant hero. Lieberman's cooperation will be necessary to breaking filibusters and helping Obama govern. Lieberman may be a hateful rat, rightly deserving scorn, but it will be up to the people of Connecticut to vote him out. The Senate itself is but an entity interested in votes and legislation, and now with Obama, it will reduce its psychodrama.
