firefox memory hog
If you have a problem with Firefox hogging a lot of memory, slowing everything else down, the most useful suggestion so far is to do this:
1. In the URL, type about:config
2. In the field box, type config.trim_on_minimize
3. If you don't see anything, right click and look for Boolean
4. In the new dialog box, type config.trim_on_minimize
5. Toggle the Boolean to true as necessary.
6. Restart Firefox.
Now, everytime you minimize Firefox, it will try its best to shrink down its consumption. It's not a perfect solution, but it's the better one I've seen.
