hard disk meltdown and shonen-ai

My laptop (Dell Inspiron 600m, purchased by my parents) broke. I apparently melted the hard disk drive because of several things I was running that was using the hard disk a lot, among them BitTorrent, Boinc, and Firefox. Must avoid that next time. Maybe that's why it kept slowing down a little. A new hard disk drive has been ordered under the warranty. It was first purchased last year in May for my birthday.

The destruction of my hard disk drive means that I lost some things in there, an happenstance as inopportune as it is unfortunate. I don't believe I've backed up my files. Then again, I couldn't have backed up my files because I lost my USB Flash Drive. It's very useful to have megabytes and megabytes of storage in a little tube-shaped object, but it's also easy to lose. I think I lost it during the time that I had to move my living arrangements back and forth.

No matter.

To be adrift at sea without an anchor is terrifying.

I also watched a little of shonen-ai that the Animé Club at my school was showing. Shonen-ai means "boys' love" and refers distinctly to gay love between boys. The shonen-ai animé that I watched was Loveless. In this particular style, there's a battle system that involves the Fighter and the Sacrifice. Moreover, everyone who hasn't had sex looks like cat. Once they have sex, the ears and tail fall off. It's relatively plotless, but I watched it simply for the cuteness of Japanese portrayal of homosexual love.

I would have enjoyed it more, if I didn't get the sense that the laughter over some of the language was more derogatory than simply amusement. I didn't get to watch all 12 episodes, because we had only the span of two hours. It makes me want to watch more and to read the manga.
