I feel deprived

TIME.com: A Teen Twist on Sex

11% of girls 15 to 19 say that they have had at least one same-sex encounter. So variety is truly the spice of life. What interesting is that girls with boys aren't necessarily only taking; they're also receiving in more or less equal amount. Not much is said about boys: We may assume based on popular belief that they are all randy.

Then again, we may not. A link to the study itself show that for same-sex activity:
Three percent of males 15-44 years of age have had oral or anal sex with another male in the last 12 months (1.8 million). Four percent of females had a sexual experience with another female in the last 12 months (tables A and B).
For sexual orientation: The population can be divided into 90 percent heterosexual, 2.3 percent homsexual, 1.8 percent bisexual, and 3.9 percent "something else" along with 1.8 percent unwilling to answer.

This shows in a fascinating way how small the population that says they're gay is, yet some that I've met tend to try their best to inflate the number to as high as 20 percent.

Maybe it's time to let them know the population isn't as fluid in terms of sexuality as they might hope: After all, if I believe that Mel Gibson shouldn't be able to deny the Holocause never happened, then the gays and lesbians should not believe that everyone is inherently bisexual. Then again, it depends.

Sometimes there is something depressing about finding out statistics. It reduces sex to behaviors; the romance is gone.

Sometimes you just need a case study, which I sometimes like better than statistics because at the very least, case studies investigate each person's life and bring a touch of reality, worries, emotions, and meanings onto paper.
