House votes for the Moon

This is probably the only time I wholly agree with President without any reservations. The House of Representatives also agrees with me.

Our stellar goal should be to establish a space station on the Moon and on Mars.

We can have a space station that can observe the stars without needing the Hubble Space Telescope, so it is easier to maintain than doing laborous spacewalk. We don't have to worry about failing gyroscope. I dream of seeing a twinkling light of civilization on the moon. We can point to it and say, "We'll go there for Christmas vacation this year."

Then on Mars, we can test for viability of life so we can colonize other planets. If America is ever an imperial nation with colonist tendency, then grabbing Mars for itself would be one of the proudest accomplishment that rivals the empire on which the sun that never sets.

But that would be too nationalistic. Any country or group of countries will do, provided that it is a democratic republic that obeys the rule of law and ensure freedom of speech for its citizens.
